Media
Media, the third tab, holds the screenshots, recordings and journal entries of all your games, newest first. Each comes from a feature you turn on in Settings › Features: Screenshots, Video capture and Play journal.
A game’s own screenshots, recordings and journal open from the game menu’s Media › or the dock over the running game.
The Media tab
Section titled “The Media tab”A journal entry shows its first screenshot under a book mark, or its first lines when it has none.
Up from the top row reaches the filters: Screenshots, Recordings and Journal. A shows or hides that kind. Several can be on, and one always stays on. Every kind is back on the next time Universe starts.
The focused item’s game is named in the middle of the tab bar.
- A on a screenshot shows it full screen, and Left and Right step through the others.
- A on a recording plays it, and A on a journal entry opens it.
- X opens the game’s page, and Y jumps to the journal entry of a screenshot or a recording.
- Start › Remove screenshot…, Remove recording… or Remove entry… sends the item to the trash, after a question.
Screenshots
Section titled “Screenshots”Playing says how to take one. Removing a screenshot also takes it out of the journal entry that shows it.
Recordings
Section titled “Recordings”A game’s Recordings page plays them: Left and Right seek and X goes full screen. Start › Remove recording… trashes the recording, with or without its journal entry. Your hours stay.
The journal
Section titled “The journal”After each session, the journal writes an entry from its recording and your screenshots: a title, a few paragraphs, and a NEXT UP line on where you left off. It needs a writing model first (Play journal).
A game’s Journal page lists every session. A reads its entry, or writes a missing one with Write it. The entry’s screenshots sit under its title: press Up from the top of the text to reach them. The recording sits below the text. Start adds Write it again and Remove entry…, which keeps your screenshots.
