A game's page

X on a game opens its page, and so does Game page on the hero.

A game page with its play time, its buttons, the description and a column of screenshots
  • The play button reads Play, Continue, Resume or Manage install, as on the home row.
  • The heart adds the game to your favourites or takes it out.
  • Update shows when the game’s store has an update and can install it.
  • ··· opens the game menu, with the game’s settings, media and achievements.

Above the buttons, one line gives your play time and when you last played. When Universe knows where the game stands, it adds the installed version and Up to date or Update available. When it can’t tell, it says nothing: confirm the version in Settings › Game defaults › Game updates.

Under the buttons, the store’s description sits on the left and its screenshots on the right. Right moves into the screenshots, Up and Down go through them, and Left comes back. A shows one full screen.

On Switch 2, Update sits in the game’s options. On PS5 it sits in its ··· menu, and its Information page shows the version. Both list the games you update yourself in Settings › Updates (Looks).

Start on a game opens its menu, wherever the game is: Home, Library, search or its page.

The game menu, opened with Start on a game of the home row
  • Play, or on the running game Resume and Quit with its title, which closes it without asking.
  • Details and Add to favourites.
  • Game settings, everything the game launches with (Launch settings).
  • Achievements, when the game’s store lists some.
  • Media ›: Screenshots, Recordings and Journal, once the game has some (Media).
  • Manage ›: Artwork (Artwork), Sessions and logs (Troubleshooting), Data and saves, then Remove from library….

Achievements lists what the store reports, the unlocked ones first. X asks the store again. GOG games unlock theirs while you play; Steam and Epic Games update after each session.

Manage › Data and saves shows the game’s saves and backups, the tools of its Wine prefix, and how much space each part takes. Saves and cloud saves covers the saves, Disk space the rest.

Manage › Remove from library… asks first. The game leaves every list, but its files, its hours and its journal stay, and its recordings move to Archived recordings in Settings › Storage. Install it again from its store, or run universe restore with its name, and it comes back with its recordings.

Removing doesn’t uninstall. To free the space, uninstall it instead: the game then stays in the library, not installed.

The Switch 2 and PS5 looks name these menus differently: see Looks.
