First run
The first time you open Universe with an empty library, a short setup brings in the games your other launchers installed, signs you in to your stores and installs what those games need. Every step can be skipped. It shows once, in Big Screen or in Universe Desktop, whichever you open first.
A on Continue goes to the next step and B goes back. Skip setup, on the first step, closes it after asking. Steps with nothing to do on your machine are left out, and games keep coming in while you move on.
The steps

- What’s on this machine lists the games Lutris, Steam, Heroic, the itch app and your emulators already hold. Add brings a launcher’s games into the library and Add everything takes them all, without moving a file (Lutris and Heroic). Install, under Runners your games need, fetches the Proton builds and emulators they run on.
- Your stores signs you in to GOG, Epic Games, itch.io or Steam.
- Where games install picks the folder new installs go to,
~/Gamesby default. - Where game data goes picks where each Windows game’s Wine prefix goes and where save backups go. Back up saves after playing is on by default.
- Controller and screen picks the buttons the hints show until you plug in a controller, and turns on HDR for an HDR screen.
- You’re set sums up what came in.
